Conference Keynote Speaker: Dr. Hiroko Warshauer
Dr. Hiroko Kawaguchi Warshauer is an Assistant Professor of Mathematics at Texas State University. Her research interests include areas of teaching and learning that foster productive struggle and investigation of professional teacher noticing of student thinking at pre-service and in-service levels. Her publications have appeared in the Journal of Mathematics Teacher Education, Mathematics Teaching in the Middle School, and the Mathematics Enthusiast. She is a co-author of the Math Explorations curriculum, a Texas Mathworks middle school textbook series state adopted in Texas and the Mathworks Junior Summer Math Camp curriculum, Math Quest. She also provides professional development to support curriculum implementation. As the Mathworks research coordinator, she oversees Mathworks related research about summer math camps, teacher training, curriculum, and classroom interactions with mathematics and mathematics education faculty and doctoral students. She received her Ph. D. in mathematics education from the University of Texas at Austin, her M.S. in mathematics at LSU and her B.A. in mathematics from the University of Chicago.

Join us for Dr. Warshauer's keynote, "Responsive Teaching to Support Productive Struggle.” This talk addresses how teachers can recognize and support students at all levels in productive struggle to deepen their conceptual understanding of mathematics.
